The Role
Following a refresh to our IT strategy, we have created a brand new, exciting, opportunity for a Cyber Security expert to lead Cyber activities across the organisation, ensuring that all IT and digital services will be secure, whilst providing full accessibility to users in a secure and confidential environment, making sure we aspire to security standards and protocols.
You will be joining an ambitious IT team that is delivering on an exciting programme of work to digitally transform an organisation that has high aspirations for their sector and beyond.
Working closely with colleagues, as well as 3rd party security specialists, the Cyber Security expert will need to understand the key threats to the business, using this information to assess the risks to departmental businesses against current, and new threats. You will support senior security colleagues to determine how to manage security risks affecting all business areas, whilst building a network of security contacts across the organisation and working closely with and advising staff in your department’s IT, HR and estates teams to ensure their security needs are met and delivered.
Key responsibilities and experience required for the Cyber Security Lead include:- Review Security Roadmap
- Delivery of Security Policies
- Monitor services delivered by the Cluster Security Unit and review SLA’s
- Deliver education and awareness training on security matters
- Ensure effective monitoring of security threats through Information Security Risk management
- Provide security solutions to support innovations, new and changed services both business & IT
- Management of cloud-based systems and design improvements to cyber security risk management.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Lead on security incident management, providing expertise, intelligence and data
- Ensure our partners and suppliers are meeting our information security requirements
- Be educated to degree level in Computing or a n IT discipline, or have relevant professional experience within Operational Security and Microsoft Azure Cloud
- Understanding of security and risk as well as ability to strategically plan to mitigate future risks
- Experience engaging, advising and influencing at all levels
- Solid understanding of security assessment and management
- Security design, architecture and implementation skills, particularly around cyber security
- Good project management skills
- Cloud Security technologies – design, implementation and administration
- Experience managing contracts and acting as an intelligent customer
- Background in cyber security, physical security, personnel security, technology, risk management or data professions.
- Strong background in cloud administration, particularly with Microsoft Azure.
