Role: DevOps Engineer
Salary: £50,000 to £57,000
Location: Durham (Hybrid - 1 day a month in the office)
My client , a technology-led utilities company, is looking to recruit a DevOps Engineer to become an integral part of their dynamic Platform Engineering Team. This pivotal role involves the implementation, management, and securing of our cloud infrastructure, with a keen emphasis on technologies including Kubernetes, Azure Cloud, Terraform, and YAML-based pipelines. The perfect candidate will have a fervent passion for automation, security, and crafting efficient cloud-based solutions. As a Microsoft-house, they pride their selves on their cloud-agnostic perspective towards technology and tooling approaches.
The role will involve the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure. This will be achieved through Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines, crafted in YAML, and the provisioning of infrastructure and state management using Terraform. You’ll be automating manual processes across the product delivery lifecycle, from security measures to ensure the secure delivery of applications to customers. Collaboration with engineering teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle is key. Additionally, you’ll assist in evaluating new technologies to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.
Key skills/experience- A professional with over three years of experience in DevOps, cloud computing, and security, with a particular emphasis on Azure.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make significant contributions to complex projects, adhering to principles of high reusability, such as SOLID and Don’t Repeat Yourself.
- The ability to work effectively both in teams and independently is crucial.
- Expertise should include Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps, particularly with YAML Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Kubernetes
- Experience with PowerShell, Bash, and Python would be advantageous
