IT Network Engineer
Opportunity for an IT professional with network support experience to join my client's team, being responsible for the Installation, configuration, maintenance and reliable operation of networks for the company and its clients. You will be part of a team that deploys network solutions for the clients, troubleshooting network errors by running diagnostics and ensuring faults are documented.
Other key duties for the network engineer include:- Providing Network advice, guidance and support to clients on their network requirements
- Play a part in the design and implementation of network solutions, as well as integration to internal and third party systems
- Manage, optimise and maintain the network-monitoring tool in order to ensure complete monitoring of network, services, hardware and applications to provide optimal performance and consistent end user experience
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for upgrades of IT infrastructure
- Take the lead in providing desktop support to users on network issues that have been escalated
- Support disaster recovery and back-up initiative by capacity planning network throughput for remote service restoration
Key Skills and Qualifications required for the IT Network Engineer:- Good experience working in an IT Network environment across on-premises and cloud
- Experience using on-premises and cloud technologies
- Good knowledge of network security and best practices
- LAN/WAN technologies
- Understanding of firewalls
- Switches and Router technologies
- Experience with CISCO
- Network troubleshooting skills - DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP
- Experience working in an MSP environment
Hours of Work: Some flexibility will be required according to business needs. Usual office hours will be on rotational shift pattern to meet technical support operating periods:-- Shift 1 Monday 08:00 - 16:45 Tuesday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 Friday 08:00-16:00
- Shift 2 Monday 9:15 - 18:00 Tuesday to Thursday 09:30 - 18:00 Friday 09:00-17:00
These may be varied with reasonable notice and in response to changes in support needs. If you are out of the office for the day, we would expect you to be on site working at the above times.
On-Call As part of our support service the IT teams provides out of hours remote cover for customers.
The job holder will be expected to support the team by also being on the on-call rota.
The hours of cover that the team provide are:- 24/7/365
