Senior Network Cloud & Automation Technical Specialist

Salary Scale - £40,000 to £60,500 + £5,100 Car allowance

 

 

 

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Network Cloud & Automation Technical Specialist. The role will be based in Northampton and the working hours will be 35 per week.

 

 

Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Infrastructure Services Manager within Infrastructure Services, the purpose of the role is to lead, design, technically manage and be accountable for the migration of Infrastructure into a robust cloud-based and hybrid network solution.

 

Alongside migration the role holder will be responsible for driving industry best practice and blue sky thinking within the Network team whilst ensuring automated solutions of manual legacy processes are driven to completion.

 

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for managing the design, documenting, and implementing network infrastructure for a cloud-based and hybrid network solution.
  • Accountable for managing the migration of on premise Network Infrastructure to a cloud-based and hybrid network solution.
  • Accountable for design and test of network and security infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS, WAN, SAN and other support systems.
  • Responsible for building compelling business cases for cloud based solutions and effectively presenting these to Executive Management level.
  • Responsible for the design, creation of tooling and automation to continuously improve the monitoring, management and reliability of the network infrastructure.
  • Responsible for embedding industry best practice and automation of manual legacy processes into the Network team.
  • Provide input into the strategic choices within Infrastructure Services and the wider IT ensuring decisions are acted upon.
  • Maintain currency with prevailing and future technologies and have the ability to communicate and introduce the latest technology, and technology best practice.
  • Supporting the Senior Infrastructure Services Manager in the management of stakeholder relationships up to Executive Management Team level to recommend, influence and gain approval to direction and plans.
  • Providing support to the on premise Network Infrastructure and (SAAS/IAAS) cloud based infrastructure once implemented.
 

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of Cloud Network Technologies – Automation, Security & Reporting (Azure/AWS)
  • Excellent experience in the migration from on premise to a Cloud based solution.
  • Excellent knowledge of Cisco & Checkpoint Technologies.
  • Excellent knowledge of Cisco & Checkpoint Design & Capacity Planning.
  • Excellent knowledge of Performance Analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of Network Virtualisation.
  • Cisco Certified
  • Good knowledge of VMWare & Microsoft Technologies.
  • Excellent at building relationships across a wide variety of groups
  • Tactical and commercial awareness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leads on own initiative with little direction
  • Quality oriented attitude
  • Ability to build, share and present compelling business case
  • Customer focus
Desirable

  • ITIL v4 certification
  • Excellent knowledge of iPSL processes, controls and governance
  • Microsoft certified.
  • VMWare certified.
  • Knowledge of VRF's and BGP's
