Description
Location: Brighouse, West Yorkshire

 

Hours of work: Monday – Friday between 8.00am and 5.30pm. The requirement is that you work 7.5 hours per day between these times with an unpaid lunch break of 30 minutes. Total hours 37.5 per week.

 

Salary:  £18,000 per annum

 

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays

 

Main purpose of the job

To assist with the design, development and implementation of the most effective software solution to a client’s issue. Carry out work on existing applications, predominantly for the Legal sector, including web applications, windows services, and web services as well as working on greenfield projects when required.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need some knowledge of programming languages and the software development life-cycle. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or 1-2 years experience is required.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

  • Designing, implementing, and testing code
  • Documenting work, including design documentation, test logs, and time recording.
  • Assisting in capturing client requirements and attending client meetings when required.
  • Assisting the development team where possible with software design and coding.
  • Attending and contributing to company development meetings.
  • Getting up to speed with existing codebase and improving coding skills.
  • Working on minor bug fixes.
  • Writing reports.
 

 

Skills

 

  • Have some knowledge of C#, .NET or another programming language and at least a rudimentary knowledge of relational databases, in particular SQL
  • Good working knowledge of email systems and Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Knowledge and interest in computer systems and the latest technologies
  • Methodical and analytical mind
  • The ability to communicate procedures to other colleagues
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and desire to probe further when required
 

 

Personal and Team Responsibilities

The job holder:

  • Will be expected to work both individually and as part of a team, depending on project requirements, working collaboratively with team leader/other developers and testers/project manager.
  • Must remain professional and portray the company in a positive light at all times.
  • Must report to the development team leader.
  • Will be involved in daily team meetings where they will be expected to provide an update of their current projects and next steps.
