Our client are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Test Lead to join and manage our test team of 4 exploratory testers. The ideal candidate would have substantial experience in web and cloud based applications and an inquisitive approach to testing, as well as experience of managing test teams. We're a small production team so you'll be expected to be flexible and pick up new skills quickly.
The role mainly covers managing a team who carry out manual exploratory testing of applications built with an Agile methodology and using technologies such as Terraform, DynamoDB and AWS Lambda. The team will also use the automation tools we have and where possible help us expand and improve our existing framework.
Testers are involved with the design of new products from the start, adding their experience to deliver quality results. The whole production team is responsible for quality and testing is just one aspect of achieving that goal. We use a mix of pair testing, automation and individual exploratory sessions across disciplines to get the highest quality applications we can.
Open-minded individuals who can self-manage effectively as well as work within a close-knit team would perform well in this environment. Members of the  team are expected to be resourceful and inquisitive, with a commitment to contributing and improving the business. We work to develop strong, collaborative relationships across our colleagues, our suppliers and our customers.
We are also willing to look at candidates with slightly less experience, but a technical background, management experience and a fundamentally curious nature are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Planning and execution of exploratory testing, using a context-driven approach
  • Managing a team of 3-4 testers.
  • Familiar with a variety of approaches including functional, non-functional, integration and regression testing
  • Carrying out testing on a number of platforms including web, API and mobile
  • Identify and manage bugs/defects
  • Work to a fast-moving, sprint-based approach
  • Creation and maintenance of test data across multiple environments
  • Collaborate with other areas of production team and the wider business to produce high quality software
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers to obtain information and resolve issues
  • Assist in the creation of automated test suites
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Proven testing experience working in a tight knit and dynamic environment
  • Management experience, ideally a team of 4 or more
  • Strong experience of exploratory testing
  • Experience of API testing using a tools such as Postman, Guzzle, Wget, curl etc
  • Experience of testing web applications
  • Familiarity with exploratory testing approaches and session-based testing (including test charters)
  • Experience of Linux-based operating systems and terminal commands
  • Sql and NoSQL knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of AWS or other cloud environments
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Flexible in approach and positive about change
  • A drive to learn and develop
  • Ability to anticipate and understand customer needs and requirements
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of test automation tools and concepts (WebDriver, Selenium Grid)
  • Management of testing teams
  • Experience of BDD tools and concepts (Behat, Gherkin, etc.)
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
  • A willingness to research and embrace new concepts and ideas
